José Tomás Otero serves as an advisor and member of Chile's Ministry of Economy, in the Minister's cabinet, in the Office of National Productivity and Entrepreneurship (effective January 1, 2019). Prior to his current role, Mr. Otero was with the law firm of Carey & Cia's Tax Group since 2015. His practice focused on personal and corporate tax planning, local and international tax consulting, taxation of corporate restructurings and reorganizations, and tax litigation. Mr. Otero studied law at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and was admitted to the Bar in 2016. He has been a teaching assistant of Economic Law (2011) and Civil Law (2016-2017) at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and Tax Law (2017 to present) at Universidad de los Andes.
