John Ryan is head of the Matheson’s US offices and practices corporate tax focusing principally on advising foreign corporations doing business in and through Ireland. His areas of expertise include advising on corporate acquisitions, mergers, reorganizations, inward investment tax incentives, workouts and cross-border restructurings.
He has represented numerous US and other foreign corporations in establishing their Irish operations, and is standing advisor to a number of Irish based multinationals across a range of industry sectors. He has extensive experience in advising on transfer pricing and Irish competent authority proceedings. John has also held a number of directorships on the boards of Irish subsidiaries of multinational groups.
John is a frequent speaker on taxation law topics such as planning for corporate acquisitions and mergers, inbound investment under Ireland’s corporate tax regime and the taxation issues for business relating to the exploitation of intellectual property in and through Ireland.
John is also the Irish correspondent for the Irish Chapter of Tax Management Portfolio - Business Operations in Ireland, a US publication that has widespread circulation both within and outside the US.
