The federal government and the states have established numerous new requirements and procedures in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
Congress passed new legislation aimed at keeping the country operating as businesses temporarily closed and most employees were required to telework. The two major new laws containing payroll requirements, signed by President Donald Trump, were the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act and the Families First Coronavirus Response Act.
